Wiki-Based Community Allows Readers to Share Their Favorite Local Food Recommendations and Vote on Emerging Food Scenes Around the Country

May 21, 2007 -- Food & Wine magazine, published by American Express Publishing Corporation, announces the launch of Food & Wine Across America, a new Wiki Web site that will create an interactive resource to the best food in America. Produced in cooperation with Wetpaint (www.wetpaint.com), the community Wiki site incorporates both user-generated content and Food & Wine articles to generate a complete roadmap to great food around the country, especially in lesser-known cities.

"We recognize that the culinary landscape in America has dramatically changed," says Editor in Chief Dana Cowin. "Big cities no longer have a monopoly on talented chefs and innovative food artisans. This new Wiki site combines our expertise with the discoveries of devoted local foodies to provide an in-depth guide to exciting food around the country, whether in Kansas City or San Francisco."
Foodandwine.com/America will enable users to share advice, comments, and links to their favorite places to eat and shop for food and wine across the U.S. Users are encouraged to recommend the chefs, markets, and food artisans they love and who they believe deserve national attention.
Also, users are able to nominate a city to be featured in the magazine. As part of the newly launched "Food & Wine Across America" series, the editors of Food & Wine are traveling the United States to report on the rise of great food scenes in smaller towns, letting the final stop be chosen by the users.
This is the second Wiki Web site that American Express Publishing Corporation has introduced with Wetpaint, the consumer-friendly Wiki for collaborating and publishing online. In January 2007, American Express Publishing Corporation introduced Executive Travel Magazine, a site targeting traveling executives.
