May 14, 2007 – Wetpaint (www.wetpaint.com), the consumer-friendly Wiki for collaborating and publishing online, today announced that it has been named Best Hosted Wiki by SEOmoz. The SEOmoz Web 2.0 Awards are awarded annually to help educate and illustrate the possibilities of user-generated content, mashups, RSS, open-source data and all the other components of Web 2.0. Finalists in the category were judged against five unique criteria — usability, usefulness, social aspects, design, and content quality.
Wetpaint Wikis, according to the SEOmoz Award site, “… come fully equipped with smart navigation, tag clouds, awesome editing interfaces and neat customization features that allow users to make their Wikis as beautiful as possible.”
The SEOmoz Awards were established to highlight and champion pioneering sites that epitomize the Web 2.0 philosophy of fusing new technology and social expression, empowering users to more directly influence content creation on the Internet. Judges of this year’s awards consisted of 25 of the most knowledgeable, well-respected experts in the field, including Danny Sullivan of SearchEngineLand; Eric Chin, Partner of Bay Partners; and Mashable blogger Pete Cashmore.
“We’re thrilled to receive this honor for the second consecutive year,” said Ben Elowitz, CEO of Wetpaint. “Web 2.0 is all about letting the user define and control their online experience and this award underscores our commitment to allow anyone — with any level of technical sophistication — to create and contribute to Wikis written for and by those who share a passion or interest.”
